Submitting eRA’sSubmitting via Grants.gov & other Sponsor eRA SystemsAsk a question about an eRA system or call us at 631-7432 GRANTS.GOV
1. NO NEED TO REGISTER. The Office of Research has done all the necessary registrations for proposal submission. The term ‘applicant’ here refers to the University, not the PI. 2. NO NEED TO LEARN GRANTS.GOV. Your research administrator will prepare the application for you. The PI needs only to provide the information required by the sponsor. The research administrator can send a copy of the application to the PI for review prior to routing. If a PI prefers to complete the application, he/she may do so. Contact your research administrator for details on how to complete it. FASTLANE - NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION
1. Call your research administrator in the Office of Research at 1-7432 to be registered with the system (takes only minutes - requires highest degree obtained, and year obtained) 2. Login to FastLane and click on Proposals, Awards and Status in upper left 3. Review the User Guide — Grant Proposal Guide — FAQ ERA COMMONS - NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF HEALTH https://commons.era.nih.gov/commons/ 1. 1. Refer to the Application Checklist in the instructions to see how to assemble the electronic form and the paper copies. NOTE: The PI will designate an OR contact (Richard Hilliard, researc2@nd.edu) who will receive an email about the electronic submission. 2. After institutional approval is given, PIs can electronically submit an application as only one file and using version 4.0 or higher of Internet Explorer. We recommend those with Macintosh use Safari or Netscape not Internet Explorer to submit your application electronically. CDMRP - DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE 1. The PI registers on the website. The email address to use for the Authorized Representative is researc2@nd.ed. 2. Upload the proposal files and indicate when the information is final — ready for the Office of Research to review. The proposal must still be routed for signature approvals. The OR will review and approve the proposal submission before the Department of Defense can accept or review the proposal. 3. For more information, see the User Guide — and FAQ E-GRANTS - DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION http://e-grants.ed.gov/egHome.asp 1. Contact the Office of Research before entering ANY information into the system. Your research administrator must serve as the Application Manager and must be the first person to register and create an application…as well as assign privileges to other users. Consult the List of Application Packages and contact the Office of Research with the specific Application Package Title and CFDA number of the program for which you wish to apply. 2. Please note that only .doc, .rtf and .pdf files are accepted. Contact your Application Manager in the OR to submit your Application (in addition to regular routing). Only the Application Manager can submit an application. He/she will click on the “Ready to submit” button at the bottom of your application, and enter the Authorizing Representative information. 3. Review the User Guide — Proposal Demonstration — and 9 Steps to Submission E-CENTER/ IIPS - DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY 1. The e-Center provides access to the Industry Interactive Procurement System (IIPS). NO NEED TO REGISTER. The Office of Research has already registered the university. 1. Go to STSci site and install the STGMS Application 2. Review the PI Instructions — OR instructions — and FAQ Why are so many sponsors requiring electronic submission of proposals, reports, etc.? In 1999, the President signed the Federal Financial Assistance Management Improvement Act (Public Law 106-107) which mandated:
In essence, it requires federal agencies to migrate to electronic systems from their paper-based systems in order to lower the cost, reduce administrative effort, expedite the processing of extramural grants, and speed up announcements to the grantee community. |
