What does this mean to you? Find your role(s) below:

For the PI: A research administrator (RA) from the Office of Research is available to assist you in proposal preparation for all of the non-science portions of the proposal.
- Routing is now electronic using infoEd.
- Rather than signing a paper routing form, you’ll now enter your Notre Dame NetID and password as your electronic signature approving the proposal for submission.

Your options for proposal preparation are:

  1. You forward proposal documents to your RA who prepares the proposal in infoEd. You review the completed proposal and submit it for routing approvals
  2. You split proposal work with your RA and decide who will prepare what in infoEd. You/RA communicate progress. Once the proposal is complete, you submit to routing
  3. You prepare the proposal in infoEd, and submit to routing for approvals when ready. You keep your RA informed of your progress.

For the co-PI: You can assist the PI and RA in any of the options above. At the routing stage, you’ll approve the proposal electronically in infoEd just as you used to sign the paper routing form.

For members of the research team: Anyone named on a proposal will be pulled into the routing. This is a known bug and we are working with infoEd to remove all non-key personnel from route. For now, you may receive an email to approve the proposal once it starts routing. The RA will let you know whether you need to approve, or whether the system administrator can just bypass you and proceed to the next person on the route.

For the Department Chair, College Dean, Provost: You can use infoEd to approve proposals being routed. You’ll also be able to see all proposals in your department or college respectively, and create reports to more easily manage the activity.

For the College Business Manager: With approval from the dean, you’ll be able to see all proposals in your department or college respectively, and create reports to more easily manage the activity.

For the Department Administrator: You can assist the PI and RA in any of the options above and, if approved by the department chair, will be able to see all proposals in your department.

For the PI Administrative Assistant: You can assist the PI and RA in any of the options above and will be able to see all proposals associated with your PI.
